Post of the Month Winner Announced!
Jan 24, 2012 - 2:58 AM - by Nimlos
Nimlos's Avatar Post of the Month Winner Announced!

Welcome to the last PotM announcement for 2011. It's been a great year for our little contest, and each of us judges has been awed, inspired and sometimes jealous each and every month working on this since we began last February.

Currently, we're poring over the winners of each month, trying to decide which of them will receive the inaugural Post of the Year award. Keep an eye out for an announcement within the week.

With no further delay: the Post of the Month winner for December 2011 is ... Benoni!

You can read Benoni's winning entry here. Please congratulate him for his exemplary work.

"OK, so you're all sitting in a tavern." It's an old joke among gamers about lazy DMing in starting a campaign. True, none of us do that anymore, but actually beginning a campaign can be a daunting task. You must set the tone, offer hints of what's to come and draw in your players' interest. With this post, Benoni has set the bar ridiculously high. Briskly written with a keen sense of evocative language, it features two disparate tales that nonetheless seem connected - though precisely how eludes us. Hints of what may come are woven throughout, but we can't follow the threads. Not yet. However much we want to.

The other nominations for December 2011 can... [Read More]
Another Perk to being a Community Supporter
Jan 09, 2012 - 12:59 PM - by RonarsCorruption
RonarsCorruption's Avatar Along with the new 4e Community Supporter Exclusive Adventure, we've recently added yet another feature to the Site especially for our esteemed Community Supporters... Personal Private Threads (PPT)!

Not everyone is a DM of a game forum and thus doesn't have a space all their own to store game information, frequently copy/pasted text, links, character sheets, pre-written tags, and etc. But now, Community Supporters need not fret longer. Each and every Community Supporter is allowed a PPT to post and keep anything they please (within Site Rules) for future reference, privately.

This perk was voted for in the Community Supporter Wish Thread, where all Community Supporters wish and request for specific Site features, additions, and changes - and the Staff do their best to accommodate.

As always,

Game on!
Post of the Month - December
Jan 06, 2012 - 3:37 PM - by Nimlos
Nimlos's Avatar Welcome to the last Post of the Month contest for 2011!

The nomination thread is open for posts made in December 2011! This is your last chance to get in a post for consideration for the 2011 Post of the Year award.

Every month, our judges will select one post from those entered in the contest as the single best posting on DnD Online Games for that month. The winner will be recognized on the site's front page as Poster of the Month. In addition, each winner will earn a place of consideration in our Post of the Year contest, in which we'll choose which Post of the Month stands out above the others as the very best effort by a site member for the entire year.

Complete rules for the Post of the Month are listed here. Questions should be directed to the organizer, Nimlos.
It's a good time to be a Community Supporter, again
Jan 05, 2012 - 11:13 AM - by Admin Toad`
Admin Toad`'s Avatar It's been in the works for some time, but the 4e version version of the Community Supporter Exclusive Adventure is ready to roll thanks to saratek187. See below for more information, or just go ahead and sign up Here.

the storyThere are many reasons an item might be buried away. It might be dangerous, or powerful, or simply too valuable to otherwise protect. This item, the Genesis Gauntlet, was hidden away to keep from the hands of Vireem. That much is known, but almost anything more has been lost and obscured by the sands of time.

What little else is known is myth. At the dawn of time, the gods created the world. But doing so was a great deal of work. So, the gods created the Tools of The Genesis, and gifted them to their most trusted servants to aid in the crafting of the world. In the millennia since, all but one of these tools have been recorded to be destroyed, and that one is the Gauntlet of Genesis.

Its specific powers are as forgotten as its location, but it is said it had the power to move mountains, the power to treat stone as sand and metal as clay, but the most legendary and critical power was the power to grant the very essence of life to unliving things. For

Site Staff wishes all of you dear community members a Happy New Year!

So 2011 was a FANTASTIC year for DnD Online Games. Our community’s number-one priority was, and always continues to be, the comradeship. This is the fun, challenge, and just pure escape of joining together in games and conversations from many places across the world. We have an average of over 3,000 visits each day from approximately 3000 active members representing over 120 countries. This helped in giving the site over 3,000 new registered members, 11,000 new threads and 537,000 new posts in the past year alone. We also hit a significant milestone by setting a record number of users online at the same time on the 21st of February with 337 users online!

This year was not only a good year community-wise, but also the most stable year in the history of DnDOnlineGames.com, thanks to our coders Birched, TeufelHeunden, and Chronicler. 98% of the time, we were running perfectly, and downtime is 0.5% at most.

The DnDOG Short Story Competition is an ongoing contest found in the Library forum on this site and has recently reached its two-year anniversary. Every DnDOG member is invited to participate. Currently we are nearing the end of the submission time frame for December with the 31st being the deadline to get your entry in. If you wish to enter a submission for this month, the topic is "A Holiday in the Trenches/Battlefield", with any interpretation of this topic being valid (fantasy/sci-fi is the genre most months). There are also special challenges for you hardcore writers which are listed in the guidelines on the first post of the Competition thread. Your entry should be from 500-3000 words with a ±10% leniency in either direction. Any further details can be found in the aforementioned post. You can also wait to check out the new topic, which will be posted at the beginning of the month.

We also have a Writer’s Workshop thread where you can post your musings for critical review. Even if... [Read More]
